Belonging
As humans, we constantly look for ways, reasons, and subjects of belonging. We want to be with those we feel we belong. We want the feelings of affection, love, and care that come with belonging. For humans have for so long lived in tribal conditions where a tribe would take care of its people. The people did not have to worry about never belonging, because the tribe was always there.
The tribe, however, does not have to be the tribe within itself. It can be the whole of humanity. The tribal values of security, the protection of one another, empathy, love, and care to each member of the tribe can extended beyond tribal lines to take in those who are feeling lonely and without a place of belonging.
A tribe is a we, it’s an us, it’s a coming together of people, and why should that “we” not expand to include those without a place of belonging? Or those other tribes that wish for nothing but to break down those awkward lines of tribes connecting with one another? “We” should always strive to be bigger We’s and better We’s, for always, one tribe can learn from another.
